da dobrowin: If last season was a fairytale, then this year has been a nightmare for Crystal Palace.
da 888casino: Things didn’t start off too badly for the FA Cup champions, but over the last few months, the strain of competing in so many competitions with such a small squad has caught up in a big way.
In fact, it was this predicament and the perception that the board had abandoned him and his side that led Oliver Glasner to blast the club in the media following the loss to Sunderland on the weekend.
It’s now been confirmed that the Austrian will depart Selhurst Park in the summer, and while that is far from ideal, it looks like Crystal Palace may have identified a pretty good replacement.
Crystal Palace target Glasner replacement
While knowing you’re going to lose the manager who won the club their first significant honour halfway through the season probably isn’t the nicest of feelings, it does leave Palace in a better position than they could have been.

After all, had the club been in talks with the Austrian over a new deal only for him to pull out at the last minute, they’d have to scramble for his replacement without having the time to prepare.
Instead, the South Londoners have known that Glasner was going to leave and, as such, have already been looking for his replacement, and they may have already found him.
At least that is according to a recent report from Football Insider, which claims that Palace are planning to offer the managerial role to Thomas Frank.
The report has revealed that, per their sources, the Eagles view the Tottenham Hotspur boss as the perfect candidate to replace the former Eintracht Frankfurt boss when he departs in the summer.
Now, the Danish coach is of course in a job, but given the miserable form of his side this season, it is looking increasingly likely that he won’t be come the end of the campaign.
It might not be the most exciting of appointments, but when you take a step back, Frank looks like a great replacement for Glasner.
Why Frank would be a great Glasner replacement
Okay, so the first thing to acknowledge is that, at the moment anyway, Palace fans might not be too enthralled with the idea of hiring Frank.
After all, the Dane has undeniably been a failure at Spurs, who currently sit 14th in the Premier League, one point behind the Eagles.
However, just because he’s failing to make it work at one of the ‘big six’ sides doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be a success at an ambitious side outside of the bracket.
In fact, he has proven that he can be successful elsewhere, as it was his incredible tenure with Brentford that got him the Lilywhites job in the first place.
For example, across his 317 games in charge of the Bees from October 2018 to June 2025, he oversaw 136 victories, 71 draws and 110 defeats, which comes out to an average of 1.51 points per game.

In contrast, Glasner, who it would be fair to say inherited a side with some genuine, world-class players in it, has only done marginally better in South London.

In his 96 games in charge of the Eagles, he has overseen 43 wins, 26 draws and 27 losses, which comes out to an average of 1.61 points per game.
Something else that could make the former Brentford man a good choice for the job is that time and time again, he has shown that he can cope with losing his best players.
For example, the “outstanding” coach, as dubbed by Troy Deeney, lost star attackers like Ollie Watkins, Ivan Toney and Saïd Benrahma, but maintained an impressive level from his team.
Ultimately, it might not be the most exciting appointment, but Palace need someone with a proven track record to take over from Glasner, and that someone could and perhaps should be Frank.
