da dobrowin: Chelsea are now eyeing a move for an “outstanding” Douglas Luiz alternative, and there is a feeling he could be available before the February 2nd deadline.
Blues keen to sign new midfielder this month
da blaze casino: Fabrizio Romano recently made it clear the Blues want to bring in a new central midfielder before the transfer window closes, saying: “Chelsea have Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo and more players like Andrey Santo, but Lavia and Essugo have had many injuries, so they want one more midfielder.”
The transfer guru also named Juventus’ Douglas Luiz as a target, confirming the west Londoners have made contact over a deal for the Nottingham Forest loanee, given that Sean Dyche doesn’t regard the Brazilian as a “crucial” player.
Although the former Aston Villa man has struggled on the injury front this season, his previous exploits in the Premier League certainly indicate he could be a solid addition to Liam Rosenior’s squad.
However, according to reporter Simon Phillips (via The Chelsea Chronicle), Juventus want any loan deal to include a mandatory option to buy, whereas BlueCo only want an option to buy, which could be an obstacle, and an alternative target has now been identified.
Chelsea have been ‘made aware’ of Curtis Jones’ potential availability, with it now emerging the Liverpool midfielder could be up for grabs before the end of the transfer window.
The Blues are keeping tabs on the Englishman, who is in the final 18 months of his contract, and not a guaranteed starter if Arne Slot has a fully-fit squad to choose from.
Jones could be "outstanding" Luiz alternative
It would perhaps be surprising if the Liverpool academy graduate moved to a rival club, but there are signs he could be an exciting alternative to Luiz, having put in some quality performances this season.
The 24-year-old has averaged 73.9 accurate passes per 90 in the Premier League, the highest of any player in the Liverpool squad, while also impressing in the Champions League, winning five duels and recording a 96% pass completion rate in a 1-0 win against Inter Milan last month.
