Tom Moody, the former Australia allrounder, has been appointed Melbourne Renegades’ director of cricket for the fourth edition of the BBL. Moody will be responsible for talent identification, recruitment and list management.Moody, 48, will continue his coaching duties with IPL side Sunrisers Hyderabad. In February, he was appointed the Caribbean Premier League’s director of cricket.”I’ve admired Tom’s coaching and man-management from afar for many years,” Renegades head coach Simon Helmot said. “Last season I enjoyed the privilege of assisting him at Sunrisers Hyderabad during the Indian Premier League. It was a wonderful learning experience, and one I’m looking forward to repeating when this year’s IPL begins this week.”To have Tom working with the Renegades as director of cricket is a real boon for the club. It also takes a lot of pressure off me, as coach, and our CEO Stuart Coventry, knowing that this newly-created role will be filled by such a capable T20 tactician.”After retiring from international cricket, Moody had worked as Worcestershire’s director of cricket before taking over as Sri Lanka coach in 2005. He quit in 2007 before coaching Western Australia, till 2010.
