da fezbet: Southampton forward Michael Obafemi has been named in the latest Republic of Ireland squad after club teammate Shane Long pulled out through injury.

Obafemi, who is eligible to represent Republic of Ireland, Nigeria and England at international level, has been selected in the squad for the upcoming matches against Northern Ireland on November 15 and Denmark on November 19.

It is some going for the 18-year-old, who has two Premier League appearances to his name this season.

Indeed, Obafemi was a substitute in Southampton’s 6-1 defeat at Manchester City earlier this month, and also appeared late against Watford in the Premier League at the weekend.

The teenager has also netted five times in 11 appearances for Southampton’s Under-23 outfit this season, and has now been rewarded with a spot in the Republic of Ireland squad.
